Nearly 20 foreigners reportedly attacked the owner of a motorcycle rental shop in Phuket and another Thai man after a dispute over a fine for damage to a rented vehicle. According to Newshawk Phuket, the incident took place at about 9:30pm on Monday, August 11, and involved a large group of foreign nationals whose nationalities have not been disclosed. The confrontation began after one of the renters allegedly damaged a motorcycle and refused to pay the fine and compensation demanded by the shop owner.
Tensions escalated when the owner asked the group to wait for police to mediate, but an argument turned violent and several members of the group launched an attack. Witnesses said nearly 20 people were involved, and though some attempted to restrain their friends, the assault continued until the victims were forced to flee.
Assault Caught on Video in Patong Alleyway
Local media released footage of the incident showing a group of foreigners attacking two Thai men in the middle of an alley near Patong. The video reportedly captures the chaotic scenes, including attempts by a few of the assailants to stop the violence, which ultimately failed to prevent the beating.

Both victims were taken to Patong Hospital for treatment and are currently hospitalised, according to the report. After receiving medical attention, the two men filed a formal complaint at Patong Police Station, prompting an investigation into the incident.
