Pilgrims gather at Wat Phai Lom
On August 12, the serene Wat Phai Lom temple in Nakhon Pathom’s Mueang district became a hub of activity as worshippers arrived in large numbers. Many came hoping to receive blessings from Luang Por Phun, a highly respected monk whose body remains miraculously preserved, and from Kuman Sombat, a spirit closely linked to the temple’s spiritual heritage.
A revered monk’s lasting presence
Though Luang Por Phun passed away more than two decades ago, his body rests in a glass coffin behind an imposing Hanuman statue within the temple’s main hall. This enduring symbol of faith continues to draw visitors from far and wide.

The spirit of luck and gratitude
Kuman Sombat, the temple’s famed spirit, has been honoured here for over 50 years. Under the care of Luang Pi Namfon, this figure is believed to bestow luck on those who pay their respects and return with offerings as tokens of thanks.
Celebrating National Mother’s Day with blessings
The day’s festivities coincided with National Mother’s Day, inspiring many families to bring their mothers for prayers and merit-making ceremonies.
Local resident Chattawee, 39, brought his mother in their newly registered red car seeking protection and prosperity. A devoted follower, he recalled past blessings that brought him luck and received the number 464 during this visit — a number he plans to wager on, promising to return with an elaborate offering if fortune smiles.
Lottery fever spreads through temple grounds
As hopeful visitors sought their lucky numbers, numerous lottery vendors set up stalls around the temple, adding to the buzz of anticipation and faith in good fortune, as reported by KhaoSod.
