Russian Tourist Drowns After Ignoring Red Flags on Phuket Beach
A Russian tourist has drowned on Phuket’s Nai Yang Beach after reportedly ignoring red warning flags, Thai police confirm. The man’s lifeless body is discovered by morning walkers on September 30, with no identification, wallet, or phone at the scene.
Emergency services rush him to Thalang Hospital, but doctors pronounce him dead at 12:25 pm. Despite all efforts, he cannot be revived. Police say he was travelling alone and had not been reported missing.
Lonely End on Phuket’s Nai Yang Beach
Police Lieutenant Kraisorn Boonprasop, who leads the investigation, says, “He appears as a lone male tourist. He is seen on the beach, then disappears.” Officers review CCTV footage and speak with locals, but no one witnesses the man entering the water or struggling in the waves.
The usually busy beach offers no clues. The tragedy unfolds quietly, unnoticed until it is too late.
Phuket Police Confirm Russian Tourist’s Identity
Authorities later confirm the deceased is a Russian national visiting Phuket alone. The Russian embassy is notified and will handle further arrangements. Police withhold his name and age until his family is informed.
Investigators find no evidence of foul play. “There is no evidence of external involvement,” police state, closing the case.
Red Flags Ignored: Deadly Currents on Phuket’s Shores
This latest drowning highlights the dangers of Phuket’s beaches, especially during monsoon season. Treacherous currents along the west coast claim lives every year, yet tourists continue to underestimate the risks.
Local officials urge all visitors to respect warning signs. “Red flags mean danger to life! Please follow lifeguard instructions,” they plead. Many tourists, however, mistake the flags for decoration—with sometimes fatal consequences.
