Dashcam captures Phuket biker’s wild threat
A dramatic scene unfolds in Phuket as a motorcyclist threatens a taxi driver with a toy gun. The entire incident is caught on dashcam, sparking outrage and swift police action.
It happens on October 5, around 1pm. The biker overtakes a taxi in a tunnel, then brakes hard and demands the taxi driver stop. When the driver refuses, things quickly escalate.
Tunnel confrontation turns dangerous
The taxi driver, who is transporting a passenger from Vachira Phuket Hospital to Thalang, describes the tense moments. He says the biker first threatens to throw a bottle—later identified as a Kratom container—at the car.
Then, the motorcyclist opens his seat and pretends to pull out a weapon. The threat feels real.
Passenger steps in to calm Phuket tunnel row
As the biker grows more aggressive, his female passenger intervenes. She steps between the two men, helping to defuse the situation.
The confrontation ends only when the biker learns the taxi is equipped with a dashcam and rear camera. He quickly leaves the scene.
Police find toy gun and drugs in Phuket biker’s room
The dashcam video spreads fast online. It soon reaches Police Colonel Chatree Chukaew, head of Phuket City Police. He orders an immediate search for the suspect.
That same day, officers arrest the 32-year-old biker in a rented room in Soi Tatan, Ratsada. They find a toy switch gun hidden under his motorcycle seat.
A drug test at the police station comes back positive for methamphetamine.
Legal trouble mounts for Phuket motorcyclist
Police now charge the man with several offenses. These include illegal use of Category 1 drugs, coercion, ignoring traffic signs (for driving through the tunnel), and failing to have a valid annual vehicle registration.
The taxi driver says he will press charges. “Such threats are serious and endanger public safety,” he explains. He also warns that incidents like this could harm Phuket’s reputation as a safe tourist destination.
Police support his decision. “We take these cases very seriously, especially when tourists could be involved,” a spokesperson says.
