Thai Minister Claims He Was Offered 40 Million Baht a Month to Halt Fraud Crackdown

Minister Drops Bombshell: 40 Million Baht Bribe Exposed

A scandal erupts in Thailand’s parliament. The new Minister for Digital Economy and Society, Chaichanok Chidchob, stuns MPs with a jaw-dropping claim.

He says call-centre scam gangs offered him a staggering 40 million Baht each month. All he had to do? Stop chasing their illegal operations.

“They approached me through an MP close to me,” Chaichanok declares during his first speech on September 30, 2025. “Of course, I refused the offer,” he insists.

But the attempted bribe raises chilling questions. “It makes me suspect my predecessor or other DES officials may have accepted such benefits,” he adds. He vows to launch a full investigation.

Political Storm: Support and Outrage

The revelation sends shockwaves through the political world. Some hail Chaichanok’s courage. Others demand names—especially the MP who delivered the offer.

Danuporn Punnakanta, Pheu Thai spokesman, doesn’t mince words. “In these four months, the DES Minister must do nothing but arrest these villains. That alone would be a great achievement for the nation,” he says.

He warns that inaction would mean siding with the criminals.

Danuporn points to serious legal risks. If Chaichanok shields any MPs who took bribes, he could face charges under Section 157 of the criminal code.

The pressure mounts. Having gone public, the minister must now act. The nation demands he expose and punish those behind the scenes.

The Ruthless World of Call-Centre Scams

Thailand has battled call-centre fraud for years. Elderly victims lose their life savings to these ruthless gangs.

The networks are slick and flush with cash—just look at the 40-million-Baht offer. Experts warn the gangs cause billions in losses every year.

Now, their boldness is laid bare. They’re willing to corrupt even ministers.

What Happens Next? All Eyes on Chaichanok

The spotlight is firmly on Chaichanok. Will he keep his promise and smash the syndicates? Or will the bribe offer fade into silence?

He’s made powerful enemies with his revelation. The next four months will reveal if he can turn words into action—or if the call-centre mafia will continue to operate unchecked.
