Boy, 14, Loses Fingers in Horror Firework Blast on Pattaya Beach

Teen’s Hand Shattered in Firework Horror

A 14-year-old boy is left screaming in agony after a firework explodes in his hand on Pattaya Beach. The shocking incident unfolds right before the eyes of horrified tourists along Soi 9.

It’s just after 9:30pm on September 30, 2025, when a desperate call reaches the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan rescue centre. A teenager is badly hurt by an explosion at the busy beach.

Rescue teams rush to the scene and find a crowd of Thai and foreign tourists, all shaken by what they’ve just witnessed.

Blood on the Sand as Tourists Watch in Shock

The boy, whose name remains withheld due to his age, is in excruciating pain. His right hand is mangled—index and middle fingers severely damaged, blood pouring onto the sand.

Medics work frantically to stop the bleeding. “It was chaos,” says one witness. “There was a loud bang, then the boy screamed. Everyone just froze.”

He’s rushed to Pattaya City Hospital for urgent treatment. The extent of his injuries is devastating—he loses parts of his fingers, and doctors fear permanent damage.

Deadly Firework Turns Night into Nightmare

Initial investigations reveal the boy brought a spherical firework to the beach. He tries to light it, but it explodes instantly in his hand.

The blast is so powerful it shreds his fingers. The promenade is packed with evening visitors enjoying the warm air, now left reeling by the terrifying scene.

Police Sound Alarm Over Illegal Fireworks

Authorities quickly document the case and issue a stark warning to parents. With school holidays and the Loy Krathong festival approaching, the risk is rising.

“Illegal fireworks are a danger to everyone, not just children,” a police spokesman warns. “We urge parents to watch their kids closely, especially during festivals.”

Police call for tougher crackdowns on shops selling banned pyrotechnics. “We need stronger raids,” officers insist.

Loy Krathong Festival Brings Deadly Risks

Loy Krathong, celebrated every November, is famous for its fire and fireworks. But every year, it brings a wave of injuries—mostly to unsupervised youngsters.

Pattaya officials now promise stricter patrols at beaches and tourist hotspots in the coming weeks. Sellers caught with illegal fireworks face hefty fines and even jail.
