British Tourist Held in Bangkok After Police Find 9kg of Crystal Meth

Dramatic Arrest in Sukhumvit: Brit Caught With Massive Meth Haul

A young British man’s dream trip to Thailand has turned into a nightmare.

Police in Bangkok arrest 23-year-old Wilson George Henry A. after a shocking discovery in his hotel room. Officers find more than 9 kilograms of crystal meth hidden in a bright pink suitcase.

The drugs, worth millions of Baht on the street, are packed inside ten tea-labelled bags. The suspect waits in his fourth-floor room at a Sukhumvit Soi 11 hotel, allegedly for a buyer.

Police Move Fast After Tip-Off

The drama unfolds on September 30, 2025.

A secret informant tips off police, warning that a foreigner is storing drugs in the hotel. Fearing the stash could vanish, officers act quickly—without a search warrant.

They team up with hotel staff to access the room. “We had to move fast,” says one officer.

Drugs Hidden in Tea Bags: The Shocking Find

When police knock, Mr. A opens the door.

Lieutenant Phongthanin Bumrungsuksawasti, fluent in English, reads out the search order. Inside, officers spot a pink SWISS+ suitcase on the bed.

They open it to reveal ten packets labelled as GUANYIN tea. But inside, each bag is stuffed with crystal meth.

The total haul: over 9 kilograms. “It’s worth millions,” a stunned officer says.

Confession: ‘I Was Paid Just 20,000 Baht’

Confronted with the evidence, Mr. A confesses immediately.

He admits the drugs are his and learns he’s under arrest for “selling a Category 1 narcotic (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute.” Police seize the suitcase and escort him to Metropolitan Police Division 5.

Later, Mr. A tells police he got the drugs from another Brit known only as “Snoopy.” His job? To store the stash for 20,000 Baht before handing it to a buyer.

Hunt for ‘Snoopy’ Heats Up

The case is now in the hands of Lumpini police investigators.

Authorities vow to track down the source of the drugs and unmask the mysterious “Snoopy.” “We’re following every lead,” a detective reveals.

Mr. A remains in custody as the investigation continues. If convicted, he faces decades in a Thai prison—a huge price for just 20,000 Baht.

What Does This Mean for Bangkok’s War on Drugs?

This dramatic bust highlights a worrying trend.

Foreign tourists are increasingly caught up in Thailand’s drug trade. Police have ramped up surveillance in tourist hotspots like Sukhumvit.

As Mr. A regrets his choices, officers are already closing in on their next suspect. Will ‘Snoopy’ be caught before more drugs hit Bangkok’s streets?
